Two months ago, when Election Day Communion debuted on the interwebs, we had no idea where this thing would go. We figured if we could get maybe 20 or 30 churches to join us, hey, that’d be pretty awesome.

We didn’t have a lot to work with… no budget, no organization backing us. Just an idea we really, really believe in.

Two months later, over 400 churches have said, “We believe in this, too. Count us in.”

Can I just say? We’re blown away.

To all of you who’ve embraced this idea, who’ve offered to hold a communion service with your church/school/group on Nov. 6, who’ve helped spread the word, who’ve encouraged us along the way…

THANK YOU.

No, really. You. Are. Amazing.

So here’s the thing. As good as 400 sounds, we like the sound of 500 even better.

Imagine 500 churches acting as one on Nov. 6, standing up to the corrosive power of political idolatry.

Imagine 500 communities of faith re-pledging their allegiance to Christ, re-declaring their independence from the powers of this world that seek to control us.

Imagine 500 congregations practicing the politics of Jesus — with the communion table as our voting booth, the bread and wine as our ballot, and Jesus as our candidate.

There are just over two weeks left till Election Day. Which means 500 may not come that easily.

That’s where you come in.

We’re asking for your help. We need you to tell as many people as you can about Election Day Communion. We need you to recruit as many churches as possible.

We couldn’t have gotten to 400 without you. (No, really… we’re not that smart.) And if we make it to 500 by Election Day, it will be thanks to you.

Whatever number we end up with, thank you for making this such an awesome, inspiring journey.
